Lecture Notes 4: Translating Whole Arguments

Guidelines

Guidelines and tips for translating an entire argument:

1. Identify the conclusion first. (Remember it needn’t be last.)
2. Use the same letter for the same simple statement.
3. Use different letters for different simple statements.

Once the argument is translated, you can check its validity with a truth-table.

There’s not much more to say, since the process is otherwise just putting together skills you should already have.
